Movimiento Pro Cultura presented the third version of its annual show “Raíces” on May 5, 2012 at the South Lawrence East School Auditorium in Lawrence, MA. The show was dedicated to Brazil and East Africa. The comparsa “Samba Viva” and the academy “Grupo Capoeira Brasil”, both based in Boston, MA, participated for Brazil. Samba Viva showed four varieties of samba, including the world-famous “Samba de Carnaval” thanks to the Rio de Janeiro Carnival; they also performed other regional dances from Brazil. Africa was represented for the second time and by popular demand, by "Universal African Dance & Drums Ensemble", considered the best representation of that region of the African continent in the United States of America.
